CIRCUS QUIXOTE - Lookingglass Theatre Company

Performances Jan. 30th-March 30th

Understudy

Somewhere in La Mancha there lived a man who read so many books that his brains dried up…Saddle up with Lookingglass as we go tiltingly, acrobatically into the dreamy madness of Don Quixote and his impossible folly-filled quest to bring good-deed doing back into the world— whether the world wants it or not!

THE CABINET - Cabinet of Curiosity

Presented as part of Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival

Performances Jan. 16th-19th

Ensemble performer

A spectacle in miniature, The Cabinet set the story of the murderous Dr. Caligari and his somnambulist slave Cesare in an off-kilter world of puppetry and intricate machinery. Inspired by the 1919 German Expressionist silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Cabinet creates a wild, abstract "cabinet of curiosities" in which five puppeteers manipulate and maneuver the characters and objects much as Caligari controls Cesare's plight.

Created by Melinda Jean Myers in collaboration with Lucky Plush ensemble members and composer/musician Lex Leto. This new dance-theater work explores how the body holds opposing states of motivation and apathy, abundance and loss, and hope and despair during a climate crisis. Through visual storytelling and shared choreographies, the ensemble seeks a roadmap for greater awareness and collective action.
